Boot USB failing

Hi I've just tried installing NAS4Free. My sytsem is a core 2 Duo with 1 Gb RAM and 1TB hard drive.
When I boot from the live CD I get to the menu with options greyed out as I only have 1GB RAM so can't boot into NAS4Free itself. I then install to a USB stick. Everything seems to go OK and after a minute or two I get a message saying installation has been completed press enter to continue. This brings me back to the menu system and I choose to shut down the server.

When I restart I can't get the system to boot from the USB and don't understand what has gone wrong really. I've tried to create the live USB a few times on different USB sticks and have even tried formatting them in DOS before installation but still no joy. Any ideas?

Can you boot to other USB media? It sounds like it's just not booting from USB at all and you probably need to adjust your BIOS settings (or check for a boot menu option during startup, usually F8 key).

being able to write the embedded OS to a usb stick is no guarantee the MOBO will boot it
check the bios settings and try other usb slots usually the usb-2 nearest the round KB plug if any

I am actually having the same exact problem. I can boot from USB created using Yumi, but nothing else works. I tried to create using dd, a bunch of tools (like rufus, win32DiskImager) and, as this person did, boot from the live CD and install to USB. I am trying the latest version 10.2.0.2.1962 (on x86). Should I try something older?

why x86?

If your CPU support 64 bit try x64 version

and please post exact version that you use to do test

Because the CPU is not x64. It is a VIA C7 (repurposed box).

Some motherboards , such HP and Dell cannot boot from UFS formatted flashes - must be FAT only.

Please type anything about MB
