Failed to parse NTLMSSP packet when using Microsoft Account on Windows 8(.1)

Hi,
I am on Nas4Free 9.2.0.1.972, which is running Samba 3.6.23 and I'm experiencing the following reproducible bug - https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10333
Anyone else can confirm this, and any workaround for it?
I see there is a newer version available at http://pkg.freebsd.org/freebsd:9:x86:64/latest/All/
Is it safe to update to 3.6.24_2 from the repository, and how this can be done with pkg_add ?
pkg_add current repository is ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports ... .2-release
