[Suggestion] add openldap service

Hi,
When you have only your Nas4Free PC as central machine 24/24 and only around clients linux,
I think it's cool if Nas4Free can run a ldap service.
In this case, you don't need buy and make another PC only for this service.
Why not install in Nas4Free ldap service ? I think it's just ldap service on FreeBSD and an interface to start or stop this service.
Not interface to add users or something else (perhaps in console), but we can install interface in php to manage ldap or use another PC client for this.
Stupid idea ?
Thanks for all your energy for this project.

It's not really NAS related but there is nothing stopping you installing it in a jail

In my opinion, this is a very good idea. I myself looking for such a solution and the most sense to put this service on the NAS. Just at home have 2-5 computers with different systems, where there are different users and we would like to have access to their backups. In my opinion in the future in the home and SOHO servers will be in basic services, including space for the data, it will be more and more demand for private cloud. As long as I used the only legitimate system

WINDOWS, did not show it, but going on Linux and installing NAS4FREE increasingly see the need integrated platform for me. By the way, using the NAS4FREE noticed that shit squeeze some manufacturers, which gives the apparent sense of security (USB2.0 2TB + hard disk hardware encryption), but that's for another time

I agree it would be very useful. I suppose we are pushing the NAS to be more Like a soho server but so be it.
There is an entry for ldap under acces but it dont seem well supported.
Samba 4 also has some user authentication logic. Not sure which is the better way to go OpenLdap or Samba4.

Hello,
Just a question about the "ldap" option Nas4Free. This option is made for Nas4Free used as customer services an OpenLDAP server hosted on another PC, is not it? This option is not there to start the OpenLDAP server service Nas4Free or did I misunderstand ?
At first, I installed an OpenLDAP server on a Debian Raspberry pi, then I tried to connect with his Nas4Free option to ldap server on my OpenLdap Rspberry pi. But I never managed to run the ldap option Nas4Free.
Normally this is not the role of the file server to host the ldap server. In a business, there is the authentificqtion server (AD or Ldap) and the file server side. This is how I understand the AD or Ldap of Nas4Free as a customer remote authentication services. But ... So now I have a doubt about the Ldap Nas4Free function (client or server?).
Now it is true that in at home, we don't have a battery of PC and effectively operate a Ldap server on Nas4Free, why not?
It's not more stupid run OpenLdap service on Nas4Free as Daap service, torrent, Ftp or something else ...
Thank you for that.
