Seems like FreeBSD 10 has some support for ARM, and improving in FreeBSD 11 https://wiki.freebsd.org/FreeBSD/arm... I guess this will land on nas4free eventually, maybe not for my next NAS, but for the one after that

If you can find ARM board with multiple SATA ports you can make money.

Have a look at the link I posted in my initial post, there is going to be a micro-atx board soon that will support 8 sata ports

The maingroup is datacenters, with 2x10Gbps nic's and 8sata it works with a nas too.
Arm support though is another question.
