Disk Light

My "OLD" WHS had disk lights on for all installed drives. It would be nice to have those back in Nas4Free. When a drive goes "off-line" (which in my case it has), it would be nice to "see" which one it is.

i would suspect that to be proprietary hardware.

can you give us some more information?

The unit is an Acer H341. It's a small cube like box, headless, keyboard less. 2GB RAM. Currently 4 x 1TB drives arranged into two separate zfspools. Each pool has 2 x 1TB Mirrored. The CPU is a dual core D410 ... I think. For my use, its a great little box, just sits there doing its thing.

pool: vzpool1
state: ONLINE
status: The pool is formatted using a legacy on-disk format. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Upgrade the pool using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done, the
pool will no longer be accessible on software that does not support feature
flags.
scan: none requested
config:

NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
vzpool1 ONLINE 0 0 0
mirror-0 ONLINE 0 0 0
ada0 ONLINE 0 0 0
ada1 ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

pool: vzpool2
state: ONLINE
status: The pool is formatted using a legacy on-disk format. The pool can
still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Upgrade the pool using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done, the
pool will no longer be accessible on software that does not support feature
flags.
scan: resilvered 60.1G in 0h13m with 0 errors on Wed Aug 27 13:07:55 2014
config:

NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
vzpool2 ONLINE 0 0 0
mirror-0 ONLINE 0 0 0
ada2 ONLINE 0 0 0
ada3 ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

I noticed the STATUS and ACTIONS. These drives were from NEW drives. Does this mean I have to do smething else with these drives? If I do what is suggested in the STATUS and ACTIONS ... how will this affect the CURRENT status of my ZFS Pools?

Went for Broke! Did the upgrade...
This system supports ZFS pool feature flags.

Successfully upgraded 'vzpool1' from version 28 to feature flags.
Enabled the following features on 'vzpool1':
async_destroy
empty_bpobj
lz4_compress

Successfully upgraded 'vzpool2' from version 28 to feature flags.
Enabled the following features on 'vzpool2':
async_destroy
empty_bpobj
lz4_compress

why did you do that?
i prefer the v28 over the feature flag because of interoparability.

unless you are willing to port this yourself to freebsd

your chances of getting this to work are slim

I changed it because it looked like the OS was suggesting that it should be done. (<== Newbie!). As for porting stuff ... I'm afraid I don't have the skill set to do that, but thanks.

I find it curious, that the Disk Lights worked under different (WHS) Software.
