Hi,

I got a supermicro board with internal LSI SAS. As it turns out it is not compatible with my 4TB drives... they show up as 2TB...

Does anyone have any recommendations on a SAS card? Needs to be compatible and have 8 internal ports.

And preferable not too expensive...

Try a Dell Perc H310 (LSI9240 OEM) Or a LSI 9211, have a look aat ebay for them...

Would this work?

HP P400 sas controller (2x channels) Pci-eX4 512Mb + BBWC

50 euros so quite cheap.

Here are the specs from HP:

Only has 1.5 Gbit in SATA mode. Does this mean the whole Sata array can only push 1.5 Gbit? Or is it per disk?

Have a look in the Hardware Compatibility list for FreeBSD 9.2 first.
Your Problem is ur Controller doesn't support disks over 2 TB, so u must also check this topic at HP for this Controller,
The LSI Controller I mentioned support disks over 2 TB.
