HD are waked up usually without any r/w.

Amd E350 4G ddr3
Nas4free 847 full version
5 HD in all
4HD is 3+1 zfs modeļ¼else one is ufs for pt downloading
zfs 4 HD will sleep after 30mins if without r/w, Pt one never sleep.
There is no device r/w any data from nas by net, 4HD are waked up usually.

post more info about your controller, some LSI SAS controller do not works fine with standard sleep function.
at the end , you can send / configure by hand / shell the standby time to sleep, and check if manually works.

Well, while we're trying to make them to sleep, you're trying to keep them that way

Guess you're one step ahead
Anyways. Would you please check the Disk -> Management => S.M.A.R.T section?
Check interval?
Power mode?
Scheduled self-tests?
I'm thinking, smart checks might be waking up your drives..
Are there any scheduled test for your drives?
Also, what are your power management and standby settings for your drives? (Again, Disks->Management->Edit individual disks)
