New & lost. Read it all, but only the USB OS mounts?

Hi,
I'll sound like an idiot, but I'm totally lost. I have read so many walkthroughs-- and I seem to have done every step correctly. However, when I look at my NASbox on my network & attempt to write to it, it says I don't have any space. When I checked via the webgui/file manager, it's mounting the 4gb USB stick that holds N4F OS instead of my 2TB RAID 1? No wonder I have no space!
I'm setting up a new N54L w/new HDD's & 4GB RAM. I have a monitor/KB/mouse on it, but am actually accessing it via my laptop, wirelessly, atm. The install went fine, as did adding the HDD's. I got right into the web interface- no drama. Obviously, I've missed something, but I went back over it all again & I am still lost.
The RAID1 is showing as online but there's no way I can find to actually "browse" it- not from a network PC nor from within the webGUI itself?
Being new, I corroborated the online (w/photos) how-to's and every step proceeded fine. I just don't have a clear way to "see" the array...
Please help? Let me know whatever it is you need to try to assist?
Cheers

Well,
did you add the Harddisks in the Disk Management section ?

Most likely you did not add a mount point, or you mounted /mnt instead of /mnt/yourRAID

"did you add the Harddisks in the Disk Management section ?"
Yes, I did.
"Most likely you did not add a mount point, or you mounted /mnt instead of /mnt/yourRAID"
I used the browse button on that setup page & chose /mnt/myraid
I then accessed via a Mac & a MS laptop on the network- both see "nas4free" -- which is the USB drive hosting the OS.
How do I get to the 2TB of storage?
Thanks

Sorry- the browse was when I was setting up access users/groups.
As far as my mounting /mnt or /mnt/whatever...I don't actually have a say in that- it doesn't give an option?

you need to create a share at Services|CIFS/SMB|Settings for Windows machines and/or Services|AFP|Shares for the MACs

Created a share group and a share user---- no access...
I just did a factory reset so I could start fresh.
I run Windows 7, Linux Mint, & Mac and have a Linksys Mediahub running off a Netgear DGND3700 modem/router. I have a flat behind the main house which I connect to this network via Linksys E1500 router which I firmware flashed w/DD-WRT to create a wireless, repeating bridge. That was to have wired ports at the flat in addition to the wifi.
I add this to say, I may be new to N4F, but I'm not silly. I do know my way around computers. This, however, has me stumped? I tell you- I have read through all of the info at N4F, tried youtube, a few other known-good forums for info--- and the set-up is very straightforward from all I see. I shouldn't be stuck like this.
Are there some known issues which prevent connections between MS & N4F that are more common than most others?
Past midnight here- will try more in the morning. If any ideas come to mind, I'd like to hear them. Thanks

And here is an
old article, which I had written back in the days of freenas 0.7.x
It explains how to create a raid5 array and use it . Instructions are the same for nas4free.
The article is in Greek, but all you need is the pictures. If you follow them you will get where you need.

Okay, after arising this morning, I found I did have access to my folder.
Also, it seems to be accessing the storage- as I attempted a copy of several GB's & it started. I did this via bringing up the location in the run command IP address.
New issue: ridiculously sloooooow transfer, from all sources (I tried everything). I did some reading, but most for RAID5.
Is there some trick to getting decent speed on RAID1?
My modem/router is up-to-snuff, so not sure the bottleneck?
Cheers!

Tried a few possible things to help w/transfer rate- nothing so far.
If everyone with this box had poor speed, I'd think it was the box, but most are happy with it. The HP N54L has 4GB RAM & it's hard-wired to the Netgear DGND3700. Every other device on the network runs fast. My transfer rate has yet to exceed 5mb.
Anyone care to venture a guess or have had this issue with this server?
Ta!

Well I suppose all is Gigabit-Ethernet Network or is there a 100Mbit Bottleneck somewhere ?
also have a look here:
