Hello,

I have, or used to have a 18TB Storage (6x3TB) build in RAID 5 Nas4Free. Some of my disks appeared to have some problems and maybe dead, but then i saw in a lot of posts people talking about using ZFS instead of RAID.

How it works? What ZFS offers me that's different/better than RAID5?

I'm about to buildi a new storage with 4x2TB disks thinking about make 2 RAID0 with 2TB disks, and build RAID 1 with this 2 Raid0 that i'll build.

BUT, if ZFS is better than RAID i think i'll change everything..

Someone could explain this to me? I need to be clear about all the information, because if it's good, i'll probably migrate from RAID to ZFS.

Thanks.

YES ZFS is better, please read this post to understand how ZFS works: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?th ... oobs.7775/

And google a bit "RAID vs ZFS" eg: https://www.ateamsystems.com/tech-blog/ ... or-vs-zfs/
