Hi,

My freenas 0.7.2 NAS server's motherboard just died, it refuses to POST and there are no beep code or anything. I belive my zfs volumes are still good and intact. What is the best way to recover my data ?

I run freenas off of a usb flash drive and I can still access the config.xml. The zfs volumes are on a SATA card. (raidz1)

Please advise what is the best way to recover my files in this situation.

Thank you.

buy a new motherboard, plug disk ( do not matter order).

plug USB stick, boot from it.

done.

perhaps you need to use new button "clear config and import disk" and synchronize in ZFS to sync your pool with your WebGUI.

Despite ZFS not really caring about the drive connection order, I prefer to plug them in the correct order so I know what disk is what device in the OS, as it speeds finding an offending disk when a drive fails (as they do).

Well this happened to me. So I did the above. running 0.7 rc 1
and the disk would 'boot' sort of then get to the freenas screen.

but I get an error:

fatal trap 18: integer divide fault while in kernal mode
cpuid =0; apic id = 00

and then it reboots.

Anyone know what that means and how to fix it?

thanks
