I created a stripe pool with a 1 tb old hard,500gb old hard drive, and a 3tb new red drive... i have about 1.5 tb used space how can i remove the 2 old drives from the pool without losing data, that may have been striped across the 2 drives. I want all my data to be on my 3tb red drive..
Can i simply go to manage > Tool > remove > select the two drives? ( want to be sure )
im worried one of my drives will fail on me so i want to eventually purchase 2 more 3tb drives and create a raid 5 or at least 1 more and mirror my 3tb.
please help, thanks!

Re: noob question - zfs stripe pool
You can not remove drives once added to a pool. You need to copy the data to a different drive and recreate the pool how you want it. Though it makes no sense using the 3tb drive in the same vdev as the 500gb drive as you are just wasting over 80% of it's space.
