ZFS pool redundancy

Post by MiG098 »

Hi everybody!
I've got four 2TB hard disks in a virtual device configured as single parity raid-z (raidz1) in my microserver with nas4free v.9.2.0.1 - Shigawire (revision 943) .
Is my information safe if one of my four hard disks fails?

Thanks!

well yes and no.

raidz1 has 1 drive redundancy. so if 1 drive fails your data is still accessible.

if however during the resilver process another drive fails, your data will be gone.

so as always: Raid is not a backup. if your data is valuable, keep a backup.
