replaced and onlined disk shows unformatted or unknown
I recently replaced a hard drive with the command : zpool replace VolMgmt ada4
The zpool status command shows my ada4 is already online, but when I go to disks-management, I saw the file system is Unknown or unformatted. Any idea?
Thank you!

do a scrub and then import disk from lower button, must show ZFS
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

I already clicked Synchronize, did not work. How to do a scrub, will it erase all the data? I cannot see my ada4 from disks/zfs/pools/virtual device

Re: replaced and onlined disk shows unformatted or unknown
scrub should be performed once a month, it checks but does not harm the data.
SCRUB:
go to Disks|ZFS|Pools|Tools
select command "scrub" option "start" and your pool, then click on "send command"

Re: replaced and onlined disk shows unformatted or unknown
Hi guys,
I did a scrub and clicked both Import disks and Import software raid disks, but the File system still shows Unknown or unformatted.
Any idea?
Thank you!

Re: replaced and onlined disk shows unformatted or unknown
Hi all. I'm having a similar problem...
The disks appear fine though...

Now of course 2 of my disks may have crapped out, but I feel like something is just out whack, like labeled wrong or something.
I unfortunately don't have an older config. I have some data backed up but not all, so am willing to do the work to try to rescue.
Help is appreciated.
Code: Select all
nas4free:~# zpool status
no pools available
nas4free:~# zpool import
pool: hdnas
id: 456169149197390250
state: UNAVAIL
status: One or more devices are missing from the system.
action: The pool cannot be imported. Attach the missing
devices and try again.
see: http://illumos.org/msg/ZFS-8000-3C
config:
hdnas UNAVAIL insufficient replicas
raidz1-0 UNAVAIL insufficient replicas
3850725243269305497 UNAVAIL cannot open
ada1 ONLINE
ada0 ONLINE
8191559269871099461 UNAVAIL cannot open

Sorry, i was having similar symptoms and thought best to build off an existing thread rather than adding one more. I'll start a new one. Thanks.
