Hi all,

im new on nas4free and im looking for some help setting this properly.

I bought a GEN8 for being a "SAN" for my vmware lab but im having some issues adding the 2 ssd cache to the pool. I have populated the gen 8 with 16GB of ram and i can replace the cpu if needed.

All the drives are on a LSI 8i controller on IT mode.

Port 0 = 4x4 1TB drives WD RED which i want to use for the big pool. (NFS,iscsi and cifs)
Port 1 = 2x 128GB ssd for caching. (L2ARC and log)

I have read some posts on this forum and some say it will be good and others says it wont matters.

also i have no idea hos to add the ssd drives to the Pool or how to make them cached ssd drives.

Any help setting this up would be appreciated

Regards
RS

I used one drive for ZIL and L2ARC, you just have to modify it according to your setup.
ZIL is just needed if you have synchronous writes, more information here:
