ZFS Pool Offline, Unable to bring it back. Please Help!
Posted: 23 Jul 2015 03:39
I am having self-induced problem with my ZFS pool, and I am beginning to panic, I just cant seem to get it back online.
Setup:
Pool1 has consisted of two 3TB mirrored pairs, and one 2TB pair. The idea was to upgrade the 2TB pair to 3TB with new drives I have.
Mistakes made - I added the new drives to the controller, so all disks were actively connected. I "replaced" one 2TB disk with a 3TB disk and let it resliver each time. I never took the 2TB disks offline.
I rebooted once all was done, and the config of the pool just doesnt seem to want to let go of the old disks, even if I remove them from the chassis all together. I tried to manually edit the NAS4Free config, nothing. I tried to online each of the disks, but I constantly get the "pool is unavailable". Online -e does nothing. I have tried to go back to the 2TB disks, disconnecting the 3TB disks.. anything I can to help the system online, and nothing seems to work.
nas4free: ~ # zpool status
pool: pool1
state: UNAVAIL
status: One or more devices could not be opened. There are insufficient
replicas for the pool to continue functioning.
action: Attach the missing device and online it using 'zpool online'.
