Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
Thanks MikeMac for the help.MikeMac wrote: I had described this (and more) in my RUSSIAN blog, see http://2gusia.livejournal.com/302626.html with google translator. Screenshots are from English interface
Although a few days ago, but I now found some time to read through your Blog, but could not solve the problem. (Have to admit, it was sometimes difficult to understand due to Google translation.)
Jail remains not running properly: NO Jail ID, NO Jail IP, NO Jail hostname and NO Path to jail.
Start/Stop button keeps malfunctioning too.
So I read, I have to edit the right config files to solve this. My problem is, I don't know, where to find them, or how to edit them exactly?
Can anyone give instructions, please?
Another point:
I deinstalled and reinstalled TheBrig now several times in Alcatraz and former branch. Could there be any file or fragment left I took not into account to erase before installing? (I usually deinstalled via GUI of TheBrig itself and then removed via terminal all data from the folder on my pool, where TheBrig is thougt to get installed to.)
Can we hope to have something fully fixed in a few days? Is Alexey still on the project?
Thank you for replying
regards

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
Hi All,
I have fresh installed 1731 and built the_brig alcatraz branch. In new jail, I have enabled mount devfs but I cannot find the device in jail:
root@faxsql:/dev # ls
crypto fd null pts random stderr stdin stdout urandom zero
I need to connect usb faxmodem in jail which I did in 9.3 Nas4free version. How can I re-connect all dev in jail?

Hi, vkyk
You can add devicefs rule for open your device on jailed /dev
For example, device speaker
rule is

Type rule at right input window, under Rule for jail ruleset then push << button. Save config, apply changes and restart jail.

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
Hey Guys, hopefully someone can help me out.
I'm running nas4free version 9.2.0.1, Im trying to get my first Jail up and running following this tutorial but I get up to the query stage to download tarballs and im getting this error:
Warning: stream_select(): No stream arrays were passed in /usr/local/www/ext/thebrig/extensions_thebrig_tarballs.php on line 121
This repeats about 10 times and then reloads the gui with the message
The following input errors were detected:
There seems to be a networking issue. I can't reach ftp.freebsd.org. Please check DNS and other networking settings. If networking is working, then ensure the ftp binary is present.
Alternatively, try it again to see if there was some transient network problem.
I have checked my dns settings and my ping is good. I tried "Changing read Timeout in File "extensions_thebrig_tarballs.php" from 10 to 100 worked(Line 79)" as per korls respones to this error but to no avail. Im not sure how to "ensure ftp binary is present"??
I'm stuck.... not to sure where to go from here. Any help would be awesome.

Hi Alexey123,
Try a long time to find how to define the node. Subsequently, find the following:
add path ‘cua*’ unhide
Now Hylafax find the modem device. Thanks a lot.

may be you should better to stay a little bit on nas4free 9.3 and previous TheBrig version? Alexey is polishing The Brig (as yo see from his reply), but he has not much free time for it...

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
I can only follow simple instructions, (I don't really understand the workings and the commands), so I simply followed the three steps from the start post, but after step 3 I get this error:
$ /bin/sh /tmp/thebrig_install.sh /mnt/WD50Red/Brig/Jail 2
Attempting to create a new destination directory.....
Retrieving the testing branch as a zip file
Unpacking the tarball...
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.6.12
Content-type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '!' in /bin/sh on line 322
You use fresh version
Anyone got a clue why this could be?
(using 10.2.0.2 - Prester (revision 1810), x64 embedded)
I did notice a folder named 'Jail' (but not 'Jail 2' ?) was created in the above 'Brig' folder, containing a txt file saying "TheBrig installer!: installer: successfully"
edit:
To give some additional info, I have also tried this a few weeks ago wile I was on 10.1. Then I could also not get it to work (also tried the "TheBrig Jail Manager Full Offline Installer") I then gave up after many trials and efforts.
I hope I didn't 'break' anything at those efforts, which might be a reason for the current error?

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
Please ignore, I'm an idiot and wasn't logged in as root when I tried to install! Working great now.
Hey all, have been getting started with N4F and am in the process of installing TheBrig Alcatraz so I can have more security with Transmission and Owncloud. However, when I go to install TheBrig per instructions, it gets to "Detecting current configuration" and hangs, I've given it ~1 hour on several occasions, but no dice. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Commands are as follows:

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
Hey guys - I have several vnet jails, under reasonable load but nothing excessive.
I notice that if the jails have been running for a significant time (say a few weeks), occasionally when I restart a jail using the GUI, the host reboots. I am suspicious that I am squeezing the RAM too much:
ram = 10G
vm.kmem_size = 9G
vfs.zfs.arc_max = 8G
However I have 4G of swap configured and it never seems to be used.
The reason I am suspicious is that ZFS ARC warms up over time which would explain why the jails don't initially fail if reset, but who knows.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?

As you can see in your ifconfig output, the bridge still has a member, the physical interface. I think having the bridge remain even though all bridges are stopped is acceptable behaviour.
I guess the question are you just stopping the jail or are you deleting the jail as well?

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
Another bug I think.
Guys I've just noticed that I have repeated MAC addresses across two of my bridges.
Ifconfig for host:
Ifconfig for jails:
You can see that the mac address for epair5b and epair4b are both 02:ff:50:00:09:0b. Now this does not look like a sensible situation, however I have not had any problems, because I am only using IPv4, and therefore these mac addresses only have local significance within each jail.
However for a user using IPv6, the IPv6 addresses are based on the MAC and are therefore are also duplicates.
If you need help to diagnose the cause - please ask.
Brendan

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F
I believe the problem is that your jails configurations with the brig are problematic, and they are what is read by the onestart command. The problem is that you have put an incorrect value in the "jail network setting / in jail field". It looks like you have used a /32 subnet.jmarc wrote:Hello,
i have a problem with my jails network config under NAS4FREE 10.1.0.2 - Prescience (revision 1761) and thebrig alcatraz 0.91 .
Here is my ifconfig report and the jls.
So go into each jail and configure the following in that "In Jail" field - note the /24 :
upnp = 192.168.1.202/24
series = 192.168.1.203/24
mysql = 192.168.1.204/24
transmission = 192.168.1.205/24
You probably will need to delete the alias addresses:
Code: Select all
ifconfig msk0 192.168.1.100 -alias Then try the onerestart and see what happens.

Hey Alexy - another bug (I think)
I just tried to set up a new jail based on a template - TheBrig|Jail|Add|Jail Source->From Template does not give any options to select a template (I have one tarball in the templates folder)
Happy to provide any further detail

Search for the skript to install "alcatraz". It is some way up the thread (I guess). Or go toEasyStorin' wrote:

viewtopic.php?f=79&t=9383
and find the updated skript for N4F 10 there.
(Sorry I don't know better advise. Maybe you have to setup your jails again... But there might be an other solution I don't know.)
