I check now - for me work

Add to rc.conf ( over System|Advanced|rc.conf page ) values
rc_debug="YES"
rc_info="YES"
Image
for troubleshoot.
And observe system log messages.

Ok, jail stops working after i do reassign DHCP address or the router swtitches off-on. So the working jail can't be stopped then and doesn't work.

I solve conflict with virtualbox

Thebrig not more use file /etc/devfs.rules for devfs rules. Ut use file called as conf/devfs.rules under thebrig folder.
Jails rulesets numbers calculated as 100 + jailnumber

Image

Update procedure:
1 Navigate to Extensions|TheBrig|Managernd push Update
2. When Thebrig is updated, navigate to Extensions|TheBrig ( main page ) and push Save button

I begin try to attach bhyve to thebrig

Hm, i guess i did what you said (update and save), and after reboot and renewing DHCP address (by pressing "2" on the server Main console) while working jail - it stops and dies untill the next reboot. On your commands above i receive error:

I forgot i hadn't ticked "Enable mount procfs" and "Enable mount fdescfs" in the jail settings. But it hasn't made a difference though(

I add command troubleshoot for view error at jail start|create stage.
format:

Code: Select all

/etc/rc.d/thebrig troubleshoot JAILNAME
or

Code: Select all

service troubleshoot JAILNAME
If type command without JAILNAME, script will inspect in jails, defined as start on boot

I'm trying to update my two jails trough the "Update" -> "FreeBSD Update" page of "The Brig". First of all I select both two jails and then push "Fetch" button. After a few seconds I obtain the following Results log:

Code: Select all

src component not installed, skipped
Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... none found.
Fetching metadata signature for 10.2-RELEASE from update.FreeBSD.org... done.
Fetching metadata index... done.
Inspecting system... done.
Preparing to download files... done.

The following files will be updated as part of updating to 10.2-RELEASE-p12:
/usr/lib32/libc.a
/usr/lib32/libc.so.7
/usr/lib32/libc_p.a
/usr/lib32/libc_pic.a
/usr/lib32/libcrypto.a
/usr/lib32/libcrypto.so.7
/usr/lib32/libcrypto_p.a
/usr/lib32/libssl.a
/usr/lib32/libssl.so.7
/usr/lib32/libssl_p.a
/var/db/etcupdate/log
/var/db/mergemaster.mtree
Everythings seems ok, also the column "Downloaded Version" is correctly filled with "10.2-RELEASE-p12" for both two jails.

The problem is related to the "Install" phase: after a few seconds after having pushed the "Install" button I obtain the following results:

Code: Select all

src component not installed, skipped
Installing updates...Could not create kernel backup directory
Can anybody give me a little help to solve this? Thanks!!!

Re: [HOWTO] Install TheBrig - one Jail manager for N4F

Post by ernie »

Hello

I installed thebrig alcatraz on 10.2.0.2 - Prester (revision 2332).

I created a jail and I installed owncloud in the jail.

My issue is:
- I stopped the jail with the button 'stop'
- I modified fstab in the parameter of the jail
- then I try to click on the button 'start' but the button is not activated now

The first launch of the jail after the creation works with the start button. But it seems that after the button is not activated

Any solution ? Is there a command line in order to launch the jail ?

Thanks for your help

Hi alexey,

Thanks for your great work. There has been some interest in potentially running a VPN inside a jail, which you had said previously you would look at incorporating this capability into The Brig for future versions. Is this still on the roadmap? If so, any update on progress?

Thanks

Hey alexey123,

So there is some issue with TheBrig running on 2332?
Could my troubles not getting ownCloud working with these versions be related to that?

Hello,

I'm trying to setup the brig on my brand new nas4free box and here is the result :

Code: Select all

 nas4free: ~# cd /mnt/STANDARD/thebrig/
 nas4free: thebrig# ls
temporary
 nas4free: thebrig# /tmp/thebrig_install.sh /mnt/PERF/minecrafts 2
+ procstat -f 22924
+ basename /tmp/thebrig_install.sh
+ grep -E '/thebrig_install.sh$'
+ STAT='22924 sh 10 v r r------- 1 1024 - /var/tmp/thebrig_install.sh'

Do anybody else have this problem ?

I'll try diging around a little bit and post my results here.

Ok, I've figured that out :

first of all, the tutorial is wrong : you must copy the installation script in the directory where you want to install The brig, and not in /tmp.

Then, in the change_ver.php, I've replaced install_stage by temporary and now the script seems to run fine :

Code: Select all

 nas4free: minecrafts# ./thebrig_install.sh /mnt/PERF/minecrafts
+ procstat -f 2457
+ basename ./thebrig_install.sh
+ grep -E '/thebrig_install.sh$'
+ STAT=' 2457 sh 10 v r r------- 1 1024 - /mnt/PERF/minecrafts/thebrig_install.sh'
+ echo 2457 sh 10 v r r------- 1 1024 - /mnt/PERF/minecrafts/thebrig_install.sh
+ sed -r 's/^([^\/]+)\//\//1'
+ FULL_PATH=/mnt/PERF/minecrafts/thebrig_install.sh
+ dirname /mnt/PERF/minecrafts/thebrig_install.sh
+ sed 's|/thebrig_install.sh||'
+ START_FOLDER=/mnt/PERF/minecrafts
+ echo 'Start folder' /mnt/PERF/minecrafts
Start folder /mnt/PERF/minecrafts
+ echo /mnt/PERF/minecrafts
+ [ ! -z /mnt/PERF/minecrafts ]
+ BRIG_ROOT=/mnt/PERF/minecrafts
+ [ ! -d /mnt/PERF/minecrafts ]
+ mkdir -p temporary
+ cd temporary
+ uname -r
+ cut -d- -f1
+ cut -d. -f1

But I can't see The Brig in the web interface. I think it's the bug you're investigating on now.

Anyone can help me?
arinci wrote:I'm trying to update my two jails trough the "Update" -> "FreeBSD Update" page of "The Brig". First of all I select both two jails and then push "Fetch" button. After a few seconds I obtain the following Results log:

Code: Select all

Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... none found.
Fetching metadata signature for 10.2-RELEASE from update.FreeBSD.org... done.
Fetching metadata index... done.
Inspecting system... done.
Preparing to download files... done.

The following files will be updated as part of updating to 10.2-RELEASE-p12:
/usr/lib32/libc.a
/usr/lib32/libc.so.7
/usr/lib32/libc_p.a
/usr/lib32/libc_pic.a

/usr/lib32/libssl.so.7
/usr/lib32/libssl_p.a
/var/db/etcupdate/log
/var/db/mergemaster.mtree
Everythings seems ok, also the column "Downloaded Version" is correctly filled with "10.2-RELEASE-p12" for both two jails.

The problem is related to the "Install" phase: after a few seconds after having pushed the "Install" button I obtain the following results:

Code: Select all

src component not installed, skipped
Installing updates...Could not create kernel backup directory
Can anybody give me a little help to solve this? Thanks!!!

Do you have any plans on being able to create a jail via console commands?
Or are you able to already and i just completely missed it? (My brain is fudge right now so a forum search wasn't much help lol)

Few of my scripts could utilize this feature if it isn't already available.. :P Especially the OwnCloud one!

Also interested! Would loooove to go back to deluge in a jail rather than have it run in a VM!
