New File/Folder disappears from File Manager

Post by tbingel »

Hi,
A couple of days ago I have installed the latest (9.0.0.1.188) x64 Embedded w/swap version onto a previously FreeNas 7.0.2.x server via CD-ROM image without a glitch.
I have created a few folders and shares within CIF/SMB service.
I have copied back on my backed-up data. No problem.
But, when I reboot the File/Folder create GUI element from File Manager QuiXplorer disappears.
I have re-installed the server, deleted and re-created everything using the disk/mount/folder/share routine, but, same thing happens when I reboot.
Any suggestions?

if you have created file folders in the ram drive created at boot up,
they disappear on shutdown and are not recreated at the next boot up.

I always create folders using the share network drive from a client computer
not the console file manager which has the system formost
and I have never had a problem with a disappearing storage file/folder.

Hi,
I have created the Folders from within the Quixplorer and on the hardware RAID volume as usual. So it is not a RAM drive.
I can access the folders created using the File Manager over the network via SMB share. They are there.
However, the upper righ hand situated small text box which allows GUI part in the File Manager does disappear. Therefore, I am not able to create/delete root level folders in my RAID volume called "Storage".
Please see the attachment.

This disappears.

Hi Raul,
I am using the default admin:nas4free as I am using it in my home environment, without a serious security concern.
I will try this and inform you ASAP.
Thanks.

Qicxplorer use "Users" to limit acces and permision to OS, so if you use admin/nas4free you are limited create/write permision, use root/nas4free to avoid your limitation.

Hi Raul,
when I said "root level folder", I meant Windows-wise root. Meaning I did create my shared folders in the root level of RAID array called Storage. Otherwise, not within the /root folder of FreeBSD. So no need for me to access FreeBSD OS folders at all.
I am perfectly able to create folders for movies, music, photos etc. under the root level of Storage volume using admin:nas4free on the first session of Nas4free, being able to create/delete folders and access them from within Windows environment. However, after reboot the circled portion of the GUI vanishes while still being able to creating and modifying folders which are located under the previously created folders using File Manager/Quixplorer and content from within Windows clients. In other words; I create main shared folders and shares under Nas4free's GUI and play with the folders/files within them later on via Windows clients.
My problem is not being able to alter the main folders which I have created with Quixplorer after the first reboot of Nas4free.
