SOLVED()upgrade 9.3 to 10.2 Lost web connect, link

Post by MrBob22 »

On a remote machine, Downloaded the embedded upgrade, clicked on the upgrade button, the file uploaded, then I got the install message, wait for a reboot. But the server never seemed to wake up again. I connected a keyboard and monitor to the server, and it at first gave me the old ip address I had used before for gui connections (10.0.1.2) but the remote computer would not connect. I tried using the menu on the server machine to reset the gui address but I got an error saying "no ip address". Is there a way to get the internet link back and functioning? I sorta wish I had left well enough alone..

FWIW, my Nas4free server is a Pentium 620, with 8Gb ddr3 memory, two hard drives with 3 tn each, simple UFS file system, and actually most of the disks are empty, with only a 25% use on one, and free on the other. I am wondering if the easiest thing to do might be to create another usb stick with a fresh install of Nas4free 10.2 and work from there. Any advice or assistance is really appreciated. MrBob22 ( I am usually in the Linux world and the FreeBSD is a bit of a learning curve...)

[Good news --solved the problem by plugging in a key board and resetting the internet address to a static one, and changing from em0 to acl0 -- not sure why the computer changed this because alc0 was the previous working setting. It was bit of trial and error to get this change made because the menu did not allow me to delete the reference to em0. I then reloaded my backed up config file and everything seems back to normal.
