Adding Serial connection to server without

Post by kenZ71 »

:?: Picked up a new server for my N4F since the SuperMicro wasn't cutting it lately

Found on Amazon: HP Proliant ML10 Server Barebones with i3-4150 3.5GHz, dual gigabit NICs, 2 SATA + 1 SAS adapter to 4 SATA with mounting points for 6 drives, 32GB ECC Max

Got it running easy enough but ran into 1 issue, my ups is an older rack mount with serial connectors but only USB on the ML10. So, what is the easiest path to add a serial connection? I could drop in a pci card but not so sure the drivers would load.

Would a windows VM be able to load the pci drivers then trigger a shutdown if needed?
11.2-RELEASE-p3 | ZFS Mirror - 2 x 8TB WD Red | 28GB ECC Ram
HP ML10v2 x64-embedded on Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4150 CPU @ 3.50GHz

Extra memory so I can host a couple VMs
1) Unifi Controller on Ubuntu
2) Librenms on Ubuntu
