User access to CIFS/SMB shares ...

Post by softfoot »

I have setup a CIFS/SMB share and setup a user with a password and have to logon to access the files.

I would prefer to not have to log into the share at all - but was unable to figure out how to do this.

Can anyone suggest how to setup a share that is accessible by anyone - yes I know that could be a risk, but there is only little me on the network ;) and I think I can trust him

TIA
Dave

Won't the guest a/c allow anonymous access ??
Is there no way to avoid being challenged for username/password ??
TIA
