after upgrade : The device(s) in config are different to actual device(s)

Post by jmw »

Hi,

I just upgraded from 9.1 to 10.2.0.2 2268 by installing v10.2 on a new usb key, imported my config. Everything seems fine except that under 'Disks|Management|HDD management' I have the following message : The device(s) in config are different to actual device(s). Please remove the device(s) and re-add it or use 'Clear config and Import disks'.

I attache also a screen capture. But ZFS pool seems OK except that model and temperature are missing compared to the screen shot I made with version 9.1. The zfs pool is 1/3 full.

What should I do so that my disks are recognizzed.
Thanks for your help

I have the same problem, and tracked this back from not being able to see video files through the Philips player I use, I'd selected clear config and import disks only for the disk size to come back wrong.

ada0 1718299MB D-D-C4C4ZEZEF4F4 ata2 nVidia nForce MCP51 SATA300 controller Always On Unknown or unformatted CHANGED (Device Serial : 'D-D-C4C4ZEZEF4F4' to 'WD-WCC4E4ZE16F4')

The disk is a 4TB (has been for a while now so since upgrading) and the error message is still there
The device(s) in config are different to actual device(s). Please remove the device(s) and re-add it or use 'Clear config and Import disks'.

So did the clear & import again, and this time it is correct.

Rebooted and everything up and running OK, but I've had this problem a few times now. I thought it might be an issue with the USB I boot from so bought a new 4GB Sandisk, loaded through a clean boot and restored the saved config (Win32 Diskmanager makes the USB readonly BTW so you can't reload a saved config) only to have the same problem the very next day.

What causes the problem? more importantly what do I need to do to fix this happening again, I've looked in the log and no error messages

The SMART data reported a checksum error but then passed, with an error about the USB bridge that I've not seen before, is this the root of the problem? if so it might have been with the other USB as well but they appear to behave in the same way.
