the intel driver for the i210 in freebsd does not support wol.

wol has a very low priority in freebsd development.
Nas4Free 11.1.0.4.4517. Supermicro X10SLL-F, 16gb ECC, i3 4130, IBM M1015 with IT firmware. 4x 3tb WD Red, 4x 2TB Samsung F4, both GEOM AES 256 encrypted.

does it work under linux?
wol under freebsd is in a sorry state. most of the time it doesnt work or it dosnt work correctly.

if you want this functionality a board with ipmi is the better solution.

tested with ubuntu 15.10-desktop-amd64:
suspend --> works like a charm :-) with both nic's !
hibernate --> suspend + restart --> does´t work (may be because of an live system)

Result of the test: problem is in N4F because no resume (after acpiconf -s3) for the Realtek nic is possible.
"wake on lan" option in Network/LAN enabled + sysctl dev.re.0.wake=1

Any ideas ?

solved !

set in WebGUI System/Network/LAN Management the option 'Wake on Lan' to "WOL_MAGIC" (NOT TO "on" !) + reboot.
Send magic_packages via mobile app to the Realtek nic (which was defined as LAN Interface in N4F).

Yeap....
I thought about posting this yesterday, because I've came across this in the past but forgot to post it....
Anyways, glad you found a solution.
Now you need to verify that when you shutdown the machine, it actually shuts down and does not reboot half of the times...(another side effect of poor WOL implementation in FreeBSD....)

Thanks for the hint, I recently had to replace the motherbord of my humble NAS, from a Asrock FM2A85X to a BIOSTAR A68N-5745, as this was the only fast available to get the NAS back up again.
Although I had set the option in the BIOS/UEFI "PME wake up from S5" to enable, N4F refused to start with the old but still working Android "freenas 0.7" app.
Indeed the option under Network -> LAN management -> Wake on Lan to "ON" keeps rebooting the system after a shutdown, so not an option, however the "WOL_MAGIC" does do the trick :D
