Download livecd/usb and try to perform a upgrade from that media!
Thats, the first thing i would try.
System specs: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4 -embedded on Samsung 860 EVO 256GB and Supermicro X10SL7-F w / Bios v3.2, IPMI v.03.86 / CPU E3-1241 v3 @ 3.50GHz - 32GB Crucial DDR3L 1600mhz ECC 1.35v , LSI 2308 on PH20.00.07.00 IT mode, Storage: 5x Western Digital Red (WD30EFRX) raidz

Development system is same system in virtualbox.

Hi zoon01

I downloaded the version NAS4Free-x64-Live USB-10.2.0.2.2407.iso
I tried to run the update usb key embended and is now the system boots.
However, does not restore the configuration original.
I have to perform recovery from previous version NAS4Free-x64-LiveUSB-10.2.0.2.2332.iso ???

Boot with the replicated usb, got to System|Backup/Restore, download the config, then boot with the new installation, restore the config, done.

at last option, do not upgrade, do a fresh install and import your disk (clear config & import disk) and import your pool, once done your data are in your new system, you only need to recreate shares and enable services.
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)

I am not sure that I have a Problem similar to yours.
For the last 2 or 3 Upgrades I had severe boot-Problems after the upgrade.
It is always the same:
- I initiate the upgrade process form the GUI
- After reboot it halts with some message "boot halted".
- I can ping the System
- I cannot ssh
- I cannot use GUI
- Therefore no restore of the config.xml possible

Solution always was a clean install from a ubs-stick ( I have no CD) and then restore

To avoid this time-consuming Problem for the next upgrade: What can I do ?

you need not to load previosly saved config (do not restore your previosly saved config.xml).

You need to configure by hand.

something in your old config file do not liketo the boot process, once done, next upgrades must work.

That is near to impossible!
There are dozens of Settings developed over the years!

Of course I am doing minor changes nearly every few days. but it seems that fresh changes do not cure the error in the underlying config.xml

Otherwise after clean install I can load/restore the suspicoius config.xml and then it works - no further Problems with reboots.

Can one check the config.xml ?
