NAS4Free 10.2.0.2.2545 released (FreeBSD 10.2-RELEASE-P14)

Post by zoon01 »

The NAS4Free Team is pleased to announce the release of version 10.2.0.2.2545

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4fre ... .0.2.2545/

Everyone can upgrade from NAS4Free version 9.3.0.2.1310 or Higher.

README & CHANGELOG

NAS4Free Upgrade from below 9.3.0.2.1310 is NOT possible!!!
=====================================================
Upgrading NAS4Free "Embedded" or "Full" from any version below 9.3.0.2.1310 by webgui or from
LiveCD/USB is problematic, due a new size of boot partition & partition layout.
Please download and save your NAS4Free config to a safe place and backup all files from second
partition if you use boot disk as data disk.
INSTALL FROM SCRATCH IS THE ONLY WAY!
After installation you can restore your config.
Sorry for inconvenience.
** ! Tools to write extracted embedded file are not supported ! **
You must use the liveusb/CD for it's first installation!!!.

Install from scratch notes
======================
** Embedded.img.xz is only for upgrades by WEBGUI, do not extract and write to any media! **

Download NAS4Free livecd or liveusb and boot from it.
The compressed LiveUSB.img.gz needs to be extracted before you can write it to usb media,
you can use it with Win32DiskImager or any other tool.
Press 9 for the install menu and perform an embedded installation.

Upgrade note:
============
You must associate CARP with physical interface explicitly after upgrading to 10.X. to 10.2.
You may need modifying your NFS and AFP share setting.
You may need modifying your ftp setting, no longer SSL is supported (only TLS).
Send Buffer Size/Receive Buffer Size in CIFS/SMB is changed to 128480 since 9.3.0.2.1375.
/var and /var/tmp size has changed.
After the upgrade please do make a new backup of your config System|Backup/Restore.

ZFS User note!
After upgrading, you must re-sync ZFS configuration from Disks|ZFS|Configuration|Synchronize.

Requirements
============
Embedded: 2GB CF/USB/SSD (NAS4free "Embedded" is Recommended Install)
Full: 4GB HDD/SSD (For developers and some advanced users, Not Recommended!)
Swap less: physical memory 2GB or higher needed.
With swap: physical memory 512MB + swap 512MB (swap 1024MB recommended).

*Note: LiveCD is not supported on swap mode except installation and upgrading.

Btw, I am just running a backup to my NAS-Box and I have the feeling my lagg-Configuration works faster and more balanced.
Might this due to the samba upgrade ???

Might be just me, but this blew away my entire config. Password, IPs, ZFS, disks, shares, DLNA, the lot. Will revert to 2535 for now.

Do you have installed embedded Version ? If yes, perhaps a simple restore of the config might solve this

Yes I do. Can I use the backup from a previous version on a newer version? I know they are pretty close.

I already got 2535 back up and can try the upgrade again.

EDIT - OK, after reverting to 2535, I found I had the Extended GUI active. Maybe that's what caused the problem. I disabled it and updated to 2545 again and everything went fine (did not need to restore the 2535 config to the 2545 update).

After upgrading to 2545 I'm noticing that rsync (local) doesn't start automatically after a reboot. I have to "kickstart" it by going into the rsync local settings then clicking the "execute now" button. Any ideas?

Hello.

It's a long time that the note about "Some features of H.A.S.T are not available in the GUI and requires CLI" is noted in the release notes.

Is there any time estimation for that to be done, and we'll have full High Availibility support for dumm GUI users (like me)?

Many thanks, and please keep the good work!

I am facing a strange issue...
On my Dell Poweredge, I previously had version .2268
Today I decided to upgrade to .2545
Due to the fact that the partition was too small, I performed a clean installation using liveCD
All OK...
But as soon as I restore the configuration, the index page breaks (no bars)
Capture.PNG
Going to System-->General shows an error on the upper side:

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_datetime_locale_samples() in /usr/local/www/system.php on line 347
Ans no Save button at the bottom left side

Furthermore, and I will also double post this in the Extended GUI topic, although EGUI's latest version is supposed to work with .2545, once I install it it breaks the index even more with :

Code: Select all

Call to undefined function get_datetime_locale() in /usr/local/www/index.php on line 709
Any ideas??? :?

OK, Later update...
Seems that for some reason my configuration was breaking the web gui...
The same thing happened after restoring the configuration on the latest beta...
I finally ended up configuring the server from scratch (looking at the config file for some settings took me about 10 minutes..)
The disks and the pool, well - of course - imported without a hitch and I am back in business..

I was going to suggest dumping the browser cache, but fixed is OK, too!

This release seems to be the most error free release I've used so far. I'm almost disappointed that I don't have to do anything. It's so boring.

Late answer .... Yes older eGUI Version leads to errors you described but the actual is fully compatible with .2545 (afaik). At a time between .2332 and .2407 there were a lot of changes with impact to the eGUI ... sorry for that!

Hey, Andreas, don't worry about it..!!! :)
In fact I am not even sure that EGUI had something to do with it (hence why I never posted anything in the EGUI topic),
because during my tests I tried to uninstall EGUI altogether prior to the upgrade but I still had issues..
So my final approach was the only thing I could do: Fresh install, install EGUI and RRDgraphs and check the config file in order to set everything back the way it was.
And everything is back to normal again and my RRDgraphs historical data is - of course - intact.. :D
Only took 10-15 minutes.. :D
