Latest NAS4Free embedded version which fits on a 1GB drive

Post by shakky4711 »

Hello,

My current machines in productive environment run latest versions installed on 8GB USB pendrives, so everything is fine there.

I still have some industrial IDE flash DOM modules, 1GB capacity only, and want to use them on some backup NAS machines which will be powered on only from time to time, so security is no issue.

What is the latest NAS4Free version which fits on this 1GB drive?

Many thanks.

Hi, get the latest stable release, during NAS4Free install select the option #4 "Install `Embedded` OS/MBR without SWAP (for expert)" this will create an 800M partition solely for the OS (No SWAP/DATA), suitable for those 1GB flash/boot mediums.

Note: You have to manually specify a Swap device/partition under System|Advanced|Swap for reliability(optional).
System: FreeBSD 12 RootOnZFS Mirror, MB: Supermicro X8SI6-F, Xeon X3450, 16GB DDR3 ECC RDIMMs.
