This one is for the team

Post by Lord Crc »

Just wanted to say a big thank you! to all the NAS4Free contributors :)

Running a small homebrew NAS, but the only downtime I've had since I built the thing 2 years ago has been when I moved apartments and when I managed to trip the circuit breaker. Zero data loss, no fuss, everything just working when power was back.

It worked so well that until a month ago, I ran the 9.1.0.1 version, which was what I installed initially. I've since upgrade to 10.3.0.3, and I can really notice the improvements in the user experience.

Anyway, please keep up the good work y'all, and that includes all the nice folks here in the community.

I'd like to donate, but I don't like the lack of transparency as I've been burnt by this in the past. At the very least the wiki page should detail who has access to the money (one person? an organization?) and the process used to determine how to spend the money.

fair enough, maybe a developer can make this clear to get more donations...

Lord Crc, thanks for the kind words.

Hi all, it seems i might need to update some pages in future perhaps to make it a bit more clear for some it seems, but it's only me and one person only who has access to the donations to nas4free and the same goes up for the full control of our domain and webpages.
I'm the person who stared this project back in 2012 and am the head project leader of nas4free. In case something might happend with me, it's Daisuke that gets the one in charge of the project and takes over in case i can't do no more.
No company is owner of our project, no company will as long i do stay in charge of this, (our community) project.
I thought the webpages are clear why we do need donations, sorry if it wasn't.

Regards,
zoon01

They're absolutely clear about that, and it should come as no surprise to anyone that funds are needed to run a project such as this.

However as I said I've experienced some nasty cases in the past, for example the founder suddenly left the team but kept all of the paypal donations.

With that said, note that I don't mind giving to an individual, however I do want it to be clear up front where my money is going and what the intended use will be.

Again, thanks for the hard work. And if the donation page gets some more details then I'll make use of it :)
