In this reddit post, it's mentioned that newer ZFS code only has 70 byte L2ARC overhead, instead of the old 320 byte overhead. The author also claims FreeNAS does not have the new code.
What's the status on NAS4Free?
(And yes, I've seen the post about possible L2ARC bug, but I'm still curious)
