Upgrade from Web GUI failed for upgrade to 10.3.0.3.2964

Post by nasrocks »

Hi

I did the upgrade today from 10.3.0.3.2942 to the current release and it failed. On checking it said no/boot/kernel FreeBSB/x86 boot
Default: 0:ad(0,a)/boot/kernel/
boot:

I then did a complete install from but needed to take option 2: Install Embedded OS on HDD/Flash/USB + Data + Swap Partition. When I choose option 1 it would not boot up at all.. it would go into BIOS. I was installing to a CF via a USB adapter that I have used for years.

So basically my questions are:
1- Any idea why the webgui upgrade would not work? I used the correct file.
2- Why is install option 1 not working and I need to choose option 2

Everything is up and working well but I would like to know why these things happened.

Thanks

I also have the "no boot" problem after a WebGUI upgrade.
Embedded install on a 4Go USB key
I have to reinstall Nas4Free from scratch (x64 embedded : option 1 (preferred)), then restore my backup.
I tried option 4 "embedded without Swap (for expert)"...but not better

I think it started since v10.2 but I'm really not sure! What I know.. it was working very well last year...;)
But now, each Web update drive me to a "no boot" on the server
Maybe I should try option 2 "embedded with OS/GPT" rather than "OS/MBR" ??

With option 1, Does the install finishes without error?

Choose option 2. It worked for me. Let me know what happens. No one has answered why I had to choose this option.
Keep us posted.

Only for information (since you're speaking about Web GUI Update while I'm not): today I updated from 10.3.0.3.2942 to 10.3.0.3.2964 through CLI as I always do (see Wiki instructions) and it was flawless...so, maybe, this issue is really something very specific with the Web GUI Update process.

Hi to all!

NAS4Free 10.2.0.2_2433 (embd without SWAP)

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.2.0.2 to 10.3.0.3 but without success.

After reboot i see that error: "panic: can't find '/mfsroot'"
It is in my production system. I created a test enviroment on VM and an upgrade executed there successfully.

Can you suggest me something to avoid that trouble?

Update:
I found problem in my config - i used custom parameters in loader.conf - for 10.* some of them are not actual.
