Upgraded painlessly (so far...) from 10.2.0.2 to this (been a little gap in the update windows...) Looks good to me. Thanks again for the excellent work on fixing the stuff that wasn't fully ok in my 10.2 like ZFS snapshotting and the like and all the other great stuff that's in 10.3.

for some reason... all my SMB share I can only read/list directory, but all the files are missing. Checked locally in the NAS box they are there.... I am using Active Directory share, it was working fine. Matter afact the NAS4Free box that I haven't upgraded to this 2987 built is working fine, I can see the files on that box from SMB. Just this box. I haven't change ANY of the setting on the upgraded box.

It's almost certainly going to be some kind of permissions snafu. It took me some tries to find the right settings to do CIFS with AD.

Try logging in on the CLI and list the files there and see what kind of permissions you're seeing.

Like I said, it was working fine in the previous builts.

In CLI they are all listed as 755. Owner is AD account johnny (me) : domain_admins (group). <--- this has been working, and it's working on my other NAS4Free box with older firmware (for over 2years)

The files "looks" hidden in all the directory. If i copy files in the those directory with the same filenames, it ask if I want to replace them. If I do it replaces it without a problem. Unless SMB has a new ACL where you can't see files, then I like to know the new switch. I checked the directory and there is no Hidden check mark on the Windows side, security is set to Full for AD account "johnny".

I have a similar issue with SMB shares after upgrade. Only one of my shares is online at this point and there are no files showing in it. The drives are online and files are showing up using the filemanager.

After sitting here for 10mins to really think this through.... something definitely F'd it up.

I ended up manually mapping "net use" using DOS, all the SMB shares and doing a DOS "attrib -h -s -r * /S" For whatever reason this firmware totally change the MSDOS/SMB side of the attribute.

That fixed it, what a pain in the arse, since I have lot of SMB shares.

PS: DIDN'T HAVE TO CHANGE ANYTHING ON THE NAS4FREE SIDE!

Hello,

This time again it swifted like a charm to get the last version installed on my PII server. All the services I use work perfectly.
Well done Guys!

By the way, will the Raspberry branch also be further developed?

Two boxes upgraded successfully from build 2942 to 2987, the only issue noted so far was in the config file.

On both boxes, the kern.maxfiles parameter changed from 65536 to 6289573. A rather odd number, and both boxes are sufficiently different in terms of available disk and RAM that it can't be a calculated value based on system specs. Probably not a big deal, however.

Hi,

does anybody know, why does sha512, endo-r, skein checksuming algorhytmus are presented but cannot be set?

Code: Select all

nas4free: /# zfs set checksum=sha512 BACKUP
cannot set property for 'BACKUP': 'checksum' must be one of 'on | off | fletcher2 | fletcher4 | sha256 | sha512 | skein | edonr'
nas4free: /# zfs set checksum=sha256 BACKUP
nas4free: /# zfs set checksum=skein BACKUP
cannot set property for 'BACKUP': 'checksum' must be one of 'on | off | fletcher2 | fletcher4 | sha256 | sha512 | skein | edonr'
nas4free: /# zfs set checksum=edonr BACKUP
cannot set property for 'BACKUP': 'checksum' must be one of 'on | off | fletcher2 | fletcher4 | sha256 | sha512 | skein | edonr'

I have an issue of when I hit "Save & Restart" on CIFS/SMB service, my entire machine restarts. I noticed this a release or two ago, I'm not exactly sure when it first started.

I also noticed that my permissions on my shares are changing as well on reboots. No idea what that is about.

Other than that, upgrade went smoothly!

Just a guess as I'm no BSD sysadmin, but is your pool named BACKUP or is this a directory?

hello, thankyou for reply, my syntax is ok, as you can see, the sha256 and fletcher4 are ok.. but the new checksums are not fit in... for some reason..

I'm having a problem now of whenever I Save and Restart a service (Specifically SMB\CIFS or FTP), my machine reboots. I didn't think restart ment restart the entire machine!

Is there any log saved anywhere that I can look into what is happening? IS there a way to save logs even?

Well,it might be faster to save the config, create a new (embedded) install on an USB - stick and restore the config file.....

That is the fastest way to get back normal. Though it does not tell me what is causing it. If it's something I did (I'm sure it is) then I'd like to know so I don't do it again!

I'm seeing some random error messages that seem new. They don't seem to be affecting functionality - ie, users can still access files - but I thought I'd mention them. Any ideas what's going on? I'd like my logs as content free as possible :)

The system is connected to an AD domain and the messages seem Samba-related.

Code: Select all

I sanitized a little by taking out recognizable information, but the system mentioned (host xx01...) is a domain controller and the address is quite correct in the log.
