ZFS Stripe doesn't work anymore

Post by oskasteinar »

Hi everyone!
Sure I've searched for solution here and in google, but had no luck with it. The problem is:

I made stripe from two HDDs, 3TB and 1.5TB, worked fine for some days. Once it just disappeared. After reboot, I saw this:

http://prnt.sc/cst2e7

I tried to import pool:
http://prnt.sc/cst2l0
http://prnt.sc/cst2ru

but it shows me that one of devices is unavailable:
http://prnt.sc/cst2xm

the same shows me the zpool import command:

Code: Select all

[root@nas4free /mnt]# zpool import

   pool: Volume_3
     id: 12744103298058601676
  state: UNAVAIL
status: One or more devices are missing from the system.
action: The pool cannot be imported. Attach the missing
devices and try again.
   see: http://illumos.org/msg/ZFS-8000-6X
 config:

Volume_3 UNAVAIL missing device
  ada1p1 ONLINE
However, all disks look fine, even after Clear Config and Import disks:
http://prnt.sc/cst21t

Is there any chance to get out my data from this stripe? Because fsck doesn't work for ZFS, so I can't find any way to say the system that the disk is fine and it can use it :(

your first drive is dead or dying
on WD greens you should consider to disable the head parking :-/

sad that I didn't know it before :(

still, is there any chance to recover data from it?
Btw, the "dead" device is not that one, which is "unavailable" for zpool :?

Hmm creating a stripe on old drives (54.000hours according to SMART and 2.500.000 load cycles) is risky, better to have a Backup of the files
Data recovery from ZFS is pretty expensive.

Maybe you can try to connect your ZFS drives to another controller or another PC and change the cables for a start?
