Hello
I tried to upgrade my nas4free with live cd. But the menu tells me "no full version detected" when I select "upgrade & change from full OS to embedded" and "no embedded version detected" when I select "upgrade embedded OS".
How can that be that there is neither a full nor an embedded version when the system is clearly bootable and running from harddisk?

Re: No embedded AND no full installation detected?
btw it's a HP Proliant Microserver and the system was on USB however I installed it as full so I just wanted to upgrade from full to embedded but the installer seems to fail detecting the USB disk. I installed the system now again in legacy MBT mode without swap since all the other options didn't work either.

Export the config from the live system, reinstall from scratch and restore.
There have been some issues with booting and upgrade lately. By doing this you will avoid problems now and latter.

Re: No embedded AND no full installation detected?
Sorry for the late reply
Here my uname
# uname -a
FreeBSD nas-office 10.3-RELEASE-p7 FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p7 #0 r304958M: Sun Aug 28 20:17:06 CEST 2016 root@dev.nas4free.org:/usr/obj/nas4free/usr/src/sys/NAS4FREE-amd64 amd64
The old system was installed in 2014 I don't remember the actual version but it was very old. It even still had the weak ssh-dss crypto by default.
I was just curious because on another similar system (HP Microserver), that was as old, the update worked. However there I was using a SATA disk for the operating system and not an USB-stick.

Yes that's what I did eventually.erico.bettoni wrote:Export the config from the live system, reinstall from scratch and restore.
