Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3065 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P11)
Seems to be working well. Logs are pretty. No errors. I don't use half of what you changed, so I can't speak to that.
Btw, I figured out how to increase the file xfer speed on cifs/samba. For some odd reason, I get downthrottled if auto is set on a linux cifs client(4.3.11) on kernel 4.8.5 when doing a fstab file mount. You have to specify "vers=2.0" or "vers=2.1" or "vers=3.0" or "vers=3.02" in the options for the mount, matching SMB2 or SMB3 or whatever NAS3Free is set at.
I do SMB2, because Windows 10 is banned from my place. And Windows 8 is for aholes. It was previously kicking me down to NT1, which disabled high speed large file transfers. Which was really really painful.
But now, with the new CIFS diagnostics, I can see it connecting at SMB2_10. Which is lovely.
In any case, I just wanted to share. Kill the auto, hard code vers=2.1 in the mount options. That's it.

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3065 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P11)
Hello. Updated to this version but my problems still don't get solved:
1. Recently, every version I update, my config will disappear.
2. Whenever I try to download some files from File Manager, the WebGUI crashes and the only way is to enter console to restart WebGUI.
Anyone have any ideas?

I've just tried, nope the problem still persisted. With an .exe file its okay, .iso file doesn't work. Does it have to do with the size that i'm downloading? Less than 1GB thoughapollo567 wrote:Did you try it with different Browsers ?loozhengyuan wrote:Hello. Updated to this version but my problems still don't get solved:

we added some checks for this behaving to catch but normally a flash would not go wrong.
Contact me on pm after install 11.0.0.3 for an embedded file to test flashing!

Sorry, where did you place those options?
According to
https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/ma ... onf.5.html
I put in the "Auxiliary parameters" of the "Services|CIFS/SMB|Settings" section:

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3065 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P11)
I updated from 2987 without any problem, but firstly disabling eGUI.
One question, though: the server didn't restart itself after having finished the update. It stopped showing the total time it had been online and I had to turn it off and on manually.
Why would it be this way?
Thanks!

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3065 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P11)
I've downloaded the LiveUSB image, and written it to a new USB drive. It boots and runs cleanly, but forgets it's configuration on every reboot.
I've also tried restoring the backup configuration file via the web manager... it gets ignored.
I've also tried restoring the backup by mounting both new & old USB drives and coping the config.xml file directly over via command line... it gets ignored.
I've reset to factory defaults via console menu, rebooted, setup the IP address via the console, rebooted... and the configuration is lost.
During the boot up process, the only odd thing that happens is that it claims to have found the config file on FD0, but a dmesg report shows no FD0 device. There is no floppy drive connected to the system.
I have my original USB with the older NAS4Free to revert back to, if needed.

do not work in this way.camne419 wrote:I've downloaded the LiveUSB image, and written it to a new USB drive. It boots and runs cleanly, but forgets it's configuration on every reboot.
1 - you need to boot from liveUSB, and use option 9 to do a full or embeded (recomended) install on a NEW USB, then this new USB will boot and do not forget config ( because is not a LIVE version ).
read FAQ75: http://wiki.nas4free.org/doku.php?id=faq:0075
