OK, with this release my speed is at 100 MB/s again. I haven't seen that in 6 months. Been in 14 MB/s gimp mode. What the hell did you do?

OK, so to recap for posterity, I hard set my /etc/fstab samba mount to vers=2.0, nothing happened after rebooting both. Updated to this and suddenly BAM. I'm pegging the meter at 114 MB/s. Again I ask you, what the hell?

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
Disaster for me. Went from 3065 -> 3105. Lost my Lagg0 network -> link aggregation. Tried to use a static IP, but could not access the GUI at all.. Using the LiveCD to rebuild the USB..
I am not complaining. I've had a pretty good run with Nas4Free..
UPDATE: Lagg0 (using LACP) has stopped working. If I unplug the cable to em1, I get a network. Now do I return to 3065 or keep messing around with this version?

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
Here is the weird thing..I ended up getting a new USB stick, the 3105 CD and rebuilding the embedded USB from scratch. I used em0 to get a network from new and when I had the GUI up and running, I set up the lagg0 using LACP. Rebooted the machine and no network again. Not really surprised here.
I removed the em1 cable from the switch and the pings started to respond at one of the PCs. I let out a huge sigh and then continued with rescanning and adding the ZFS drives, and the remaining configurations. One of the nice things about NAS4Free is that rebuilding does not take long to do from scratch. I then rebooted the box, and for a laugh set up the ping from one of the PCs and plugged em1 back into the switch. The ping did not stop.. Removed the em0 cable and the ping continued after skipping one or two pings.. Lagg0 has been right ever since..
I am thinking that the HP 1920 switch has or had a glitch. The proof will be if the lagg0 still works later today, when I reboot the box with the original USB drive that had the upgraded 3105 installed or should I leave it alone now that everything is working?

@ xxup
Hi:
If you're willing to experiment... May I suggest you reboot the HP 1920 switch before resetting your NAS box to see if it was/is something in the switch. After running a few ping test, reboot everything, (NAS, Switch, etc.) and go through it all again. This way you completely eliminate everything from being suspect. Granted, it's a huge pain but I for one would be most interested in knowing if it was a fluke or something yet discovered. Also, (unless I missed it) you never indicated what brand of NIC you're using. I'm wondering if there maybe a driver issue for a lesser support NIC. Mind you I'm not making accusations, I'm trying to get a real good grasp of all the parts involved.
Thanks in advance.
When I upgraded to 3105 I had no issues with my LAGG on my Intel 2 port NIC.

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
Upgrade went well for me from 10.2.0.2. ...but SAMBA speeds only slightly changed. After multiple tests from several clients:Jack Foobar wrote:OK, with this release my speed is at 100 MB/s again. I haven't seen that in 6 months. Been in 14 MB/s gimp mode. What the hell did you do?
Average Write speed went from 92.0 to 93.7 MB/s (+2%), and average Read speed went from 103.3 to 103.1 MB/s (-0.2%).
Basically about the same as before, but still pretty good for a low-powered HP N40L Microserver, I think. Thanks for the update guys!

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
Just upgraded and while my main NAS samba performance hasn't changed (was getting ~112MB/s before and now), my backup NAS performance did improve dramatically!
I am at 103 MB/s now, while i was getting about 80 before!
Congrats to the dev team!

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
I upgraded to 10.3.0.3.3105 very smoothly via the webgui from 10.2.x. Nice work guys.
Everything seems OK except that the new webgui stops after a short while and I cannot access my NAS4Free via a web browser. I can ssh in and restart the webgui using:- and everything is hunky dory again until it stops again after not being used awhile.
Could you tell me what I need to check to correct this behaviour? Ta.

YES. I'm in the same situation, my latest NAS Do not have CD reader, and botting from liveUSB is fastest than LiveCD and menu are the same, so you can do same steps ( only remember to select your ada0 or simmilar as origen for data when N4F menu ask about source of data) <- I select Cd reader first time and fails because do not exist.erico.bettoni wrote:

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
That seems to have worked. Thank you for the prompt response.raulfg3 wrote:Do a new fresh install not a update, and restore your previosly saved config, is easy, is fast and works 100%5xo245ahq wrote:I upgraded to 10.3.0.3.3105 very smoothly via the webgui from 10.2.x. Nice work guys.
Everything seems OK except that the new webgui stops after a short while and I cannot access my NAS4Free via a web browser. I can ssh in and restart the webgui using:-and everything is hunky dory again until it stops again after not being used awhile.Code: Select all
sudo /etc/rc.d/lighttpd restart
Could you tell me what I need to check to correct this behaviour? Ta.

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
I havent upgraded to 11.x yet because its unstable on my hardware.
Whats was the latest release of 10.3?
Im currently running build 4299.
This is open source software, there is no problem in allowing downloading of old versions.
You could make it dificult, or hidden from general public, but older versions should be available somewhere.

Old releases don't have the latest security patches applied and are likely more vulnerable than current releases. It would be irresponsible to make them officially available for download.erico.bettoni wrote: ↑14 Feb 2018 16:16I havent upgraded to 11.x yet because its unstable on my hardware.

erico.bettoni, what can you tell us about your hardware?
It's a bit strange you run 10.x fine but 11.1 series problematic, i do assume your cpu is 64-bits compatible.

Re: NAS4Free 10.3.0.3.3105 released (FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-P12)
Hello zoon, first thanks for the fantastic work on nas4free.
I’ve struggled with an unstable system for a while, only got it stable on 10.3.
This thread explains it:
viewtopic.php?f=66&t=9871
Last time I tested 11.x I started getting the same erros, even when enabling a zvol for swap.
Will try latest 11.4 and report back.
I have two supermicro x9scl with 32gb ecc and xeon procs.

Dunno, I don't have Java installed.
Anyway - you can turn the block temporarilz off and download the right torrent you need.
