[SOLVED]Server not booting after upgrade from 10.3.0.3.2942 to 10.3.0.3.3105

Post by bluegreek »

Hello,

My first post here, I'm in a real pickle and need your help please:

Earlier today, just before starting some chores around the house I used the GUI to upgrade from 10.3.0.3.2942 to 10.3.0.3.3105, and since then my server refuses to start properly.

I connected a monitor and can see that the boot process is doing, this is what I saw:

Code: Select all

SMP: AP CPU #3 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU #1 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU #2 Launched!
....
[trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/xmd0 []...
creating 2nd memory disk for x64 embedded <---------------------- greyed line
can't determine rootfs <---------------------- greyed line
Waiting (max60 seconds) for system process ...... done
......
Synching disks, vnodes remaining...0 doone
All buffers synched
Uptime: 1m56s
re0: link state changed to UP

The operating system has halted.
Please press any key to reboot.
I tried to restart again, and got the same result.

Your advice would be really appreciated to get my server back on.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers....

Please download liveusb/cd and perform a new upgrade from it from menu 9.

Before you do, confirm checksum does match on your dl. it seems something went wrong on the write side too.
i suggest to check also your boot media for corruptions.

If in doubt, please do a clean install, and restore config afterwards.
System specs: XigmaNAS 11.2.0.4 -embedded on Samsung 860 EVO 256GB and Supermicro X10SL7-F w / Bios v3.2, IPMI v.03.86 / CPU E3-1241 v3 @ 3.50GHz - 32GB Crucial DDR3L 1600mhz ECC 1.35v , LSI 2308 on PH20.00.07.00 IT mode, Storage: 5x Western Digital Red (WD30EFRX) raidz

Development system is same system in virtualbox.

Thank you zoon01 for the super quick reply - I upgraded manually and it's working fine now. much appreciated.
