Hi,
I'm trying to run/install NAS4Free on a USB drive - connected to a Dell R710 server.
I'm using a Sanddisk USB drive which when connected to a Windows OS - is shown as a Removable Drive (and not a System Disk).
i.e. it's the kind of USB drive that cannot be used for Windows-To-Go
If I try to install NAS4Free (after booting from CD), it doesn't detect this USB Drive as a possible installation destination (it does detect the USB drive itself).
I'm guessing because like Windows, NAS4Free doesn't support installing onto 'Removable Drives', only 'System Disks'.
Is there any workaround for this?
P.S. I tried using USB Live - it boots well and all, but all my config is lost (even simple network interfaces settings) upon each reboot which makes it impossible to use. How do we even make use of the USB Live image to run NAS4Free in this case? (or is it just meant as another installation media - and not to be 'run-as'?)
Thank you.

Re: NAS4Free USB
use option 9 fron live CD or Live usb to install on a second USB key, 8GB minimun and a decent read&write speed, like https://www.alternate.es/Corsair/Flash- ... 19?lk=7097systemd1sk wrote:Hi,

Re: NAS4Free USB
When are you plugging in the USB stick when booting from CD? You won't be able to install to it if it's plugged in when you boot.
HP Gen8 Microserver, Intel i5-3470T, 16GB RAM, 4 x 3TB WD Reds, Samsung Bar 32GB USB stick
