Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
Hi all,
I recognized the snmp service consuming much cpu since the update to v11.
A little testing showed that it only appears as soon as the snmp module "Host resources" is activated.
Did anyone else experience the same?

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
After I checked my secondary NAS and there was no problem I googled a bit and found this:batsi wrote:I recognized the snmp service consuming much cpu since the update to v11.
https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/56235/
And putting a CD into the drive really resolved the high CPU usage. And the secondary NAS wasn't affected as it doesn't have a CD drive.
So looks like this is a bug in that version of bsnmpd.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
I have now successfully upgraded my two backup servers to 11.0.0.4.3330. It was not without problems.slaycock wrote:
Upgrading from 3252 lost my configuration. This seems to be an ongoing intermittent problem for my server. Any idea what might be causing the issue.
Try upgrade now again and get an eye on the console screen, messages should be reported there.
Both of these servers use a Dell SAS HBA (One is a 5IR and the other a 6IR I believe).
On both of these machines I did a clean install using a USB stick that was wiped to remove the first and last sectors. Both machines booted fine and as a test I was able to import the zfs pools and run a scrub without any incident.
However as soon as I restored the config from nas4free 10 I was greeted with timeout errors from mpt0: (this is the designation of the Dell HBA cards). This happened on both machines and was repeatable. Going back to factory settings for nas4free 11 no errors, reinstall nas4free 10 config - mpt0 timeout errors.
This means I have had to redo the configuration for both of these machines. I'm happy to upload a config file from my nas4free 10 installation if this is of benefit.
During the lengthy process of doing these updates I had two hard drives fail. In neither case was this a worry as both drives were at least 5 years old. Both zfs2 pools re-silvered without problems although one did take nearly two days as there were some errors found on other disks (I had 3 disks re-silvering at one point)
I also discovered a reason for machines not booting after an upgrade. By habit I use the GPT installation. However I found that one of my servers (based on an 2008 Intel socket 775 motherboard) could only use the MBR format for booting from a USB drive. So please don't delete the legacy MBR installation on the live USB just yet. I discovered this because unknowingly I had resolved this issue some time ago by using compact flash cards plugged into IDE sockets as the boot media. These are now too small and I was trying to replace them with newer, larger USB drives.

PD: Please save your working config first, some times when touch this parameters, SAMBA do not detect your shares and nedd to restore your working config
I had "Server Max Protocol" set to "SMB3" and changed it to "Default"; my shares all disappeared. I restored my last config and the shares came back.
Do I have to recreate all my shares so that I can have all options set to "Default"?

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
I tried changing the server protocol setting and it made the problem worse with network dropout after 15min of stating a backup from win10 pc.
I reverted to version 3252 and that seems to be better with full 2 hour backups completing successfully. Used the same setting of max server server protocol SMB3- Win 10 and min server protocol SMB2. WOL did not work on 3252 either.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
I downloaded the configuration from mz 10.3.x install, I used ImageUSB to write the LiveUSB version 3330, then I loaded my old configuration.
I got this message and I cannot go further, at this point I have to restart, the GUI is gone.
I also get this message when trying to save the "general" settings:
UnfortunatelY I don't have a second USB right now so I will revert to 10.3.x, but if you have some guesses about the causes, I may try again in the next 8 days 11.x.

Sounds like the same issue I experienced. Check the log for "no protocol supported" error message.taffeys wrote:

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
I thought I'd throw my two cents in as a newbie to NAS4Free (but who has been involved with *NIX since 1975).
My system: 11.0.0.4 - Sayyadina (revision 3330), MSI MS-7366, x64-embedded on Intel Core2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz, 2GB mem, 4x 3TB in a soft raid 5, UFS. Booting from a WDC WD2500JB (because I didn't have a spare flash drive). FTP is the only service enabled, will probably add more. Need to add memory, this (old) motherboard is limited to 4GB. Kernel tuning enabled, power control disabled -- need to read up on this.
1) Initially set the power management for the RAID drives to Level 1 but suffered from system freezes at least once per day. Re-set the power management to Level 127 and I have been up for a week without problem. Yay!
2) The DNS fields cannot be changed. Don't know if this is a problem or not.
Other than that, it shows up on all our Apple devices and seems to be working. The easiest way to get files onto is so far has proven to be FTP. FTP to/from the box seems to run at near network maximum (both devices connected to the same router.
So far, so good. Very nice work. Thanks,

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3330 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P5)
Hi
I work now on dnsmasq and find something problematic
I add second network interface - wireless usb card and configure it at access point
My ifconfig
I see my access point, and can connect from telephone but wlan page not show MAC address

Also I want combine my interfaces as
And I see result - MAC address is OK, but interface not marked as UP.
Bugs or my fault ?
Update from 07Jan 2017
In my case access point not assign IP address
When I set it manually
I give it work

I find bug in file /etc/rc.d/rcconf
subroutine setifconfig add leading space to ${_ifconfig_args} when it create entries for my wlan ( in my case wlan defined as opt1 and configured with static IP )
for repair problem please add string
part of code begin from 202 line
Patch added.
May be need add normalization for LAN also.

Hi Alexey - does your finding apply in my case as well? It will keep remember the wpa_supplicant.conf and start the wpa_supplicant.pid ?
Even if your wireless card works as an AP you will still need wpa_supplicant as it will not remeber the config
