Keeping crashplan running proves to be difficult so I started looking for an equal cost alternative for offsite backup.
I tested various cloud storage providers and they are either expensive (I have 2TB data to guard) or too slow
Amazon cloud drive offers unlimited storage for around 5$/month and during testing the up and download easily reached the 50mbit/s of my fiber connection
I could not find an integrated solution so I now am testing hashbackup for the incremental encrypted backup onto a local 2TB disk and rclone to sync the backup archive with amazon cloud drive. I can mount the backup archive for easy restoring if needed
Hasbackup promises direct backup to amazon cloud drive but that would need python to be available on nas4free
The first full backup of the first large volume is running (244gb, 46gb done) so I still need to experience the infremental speed but with the 20gb test volume it was very fast.
My questions:
Is it possible to get python running on embedded nas4free without jails (too much time lost when upgrading)?
Anyone experience with amazon cloud drive speed, will it stay high even if you reach 2TB?
Hashbackup is a very nice program but fully closed source. One person company with forced regular renewal otherwise backup will stop. Any alternative? Preferrably also with deduplication and encription so I can send the backup archive directly to the cloud?

Re: Hashbackup and rclone
Currenty also testing another solution
Crashplan under lubuntu under virtualbox
At least simpler to get and keep tunning then a jail, not too much memory overhead
