NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
The NAS4Free Team is pleased to announce the release of version 11.0.0.4.3460 - Sayyadina
https://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4fr ... .0.4.3460/
Read the readme_11.0
Major Change!
Note for 32-bits users:
===================
We believe that the use of 32-bits versions can not give the end users it's full potential of the OS, for this
further development on the (i386) 32-bits architecture has been stopped upon the 11.0.0.3.xxxx series.
Current 32-bits users are able to use 32-bits 10.3.0.3.xxxx series until their end of life or do reinstall
to use 64-bits NAS4Free and restore config.
Again TIP: Do not upgrade from 10 series directly!
reinstall and restore config is the way to go because of increased partition size!
You avoid lots of problems later on.
Upgrade note:
=============
RRDGraphs extension can no longer be used with 11.x series, disable and deinstall before upgrade!
RRDGraphs are now included in 11.x series, you can setup on webgui System > Advanced > Monitoring Setup.
Do not reinstall the extension!!!

My misstake, i just fixed the double susdo line on changes file, yes of course we use the latest sudo 1.8.19p2 release and we dropped the older 1.8.19p1 version.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
I upgraded from nas4free 10 to 11 and only have 4gb of RAM. On nas4free 10 it was running fine with a usage around 10%. Unfortunately with this update (11.0.0.4.3460) my usage has increased to 85%. Is this the case by more people too?
Maybe it is also caused by the upgrade from embedded to full install?

Why did you use full install ? Ist there a special reason / intention for doing so ?
The recommended version for most user is the embedded version

Yea, I'm trying to install openvpn and because I dont have that much RAM I think it's a bad idea to use jails. But for now I do not have succes with the install.
That is the reason

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
do you use ZFS? if yes, the high RAM useage is normal behaviour, because ZFS grabs almost all available RAM for caching.

Thanks for your post! Since I'm not experienced I did not know that. I will start a thread about it in the appropriate section of this forum since I could not find exactly what settings I need to change for that.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
Still problems with Wake on lan with this version and previous 2 versions on HP N40L with 2GB. On network/Lan management I have tried a couple of extra options which just caused the system to fail to boot correctly. What is the correct syntax for this please in this version.
Previous problems with erratic backups were solved by changing the SMB max protocols to SMB_11 thanks to advice on this forum.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
I can understand you think it's a problem. the truth is that to support wol in 10 series etc. we had to modify the bge driver.rth wrote: ↑24 Jan 2017 12:46Still problems with Wake on lan with this version and previous 2 versions on HP N40L with 2GB. This has not been done in the 11 series bge driver nor do I plan to do. I think for proper wol support it must be fixed upstream in FreeBSD bge driver itself. If they made the choice not todo so than add/replace the nic for an intel is my advise.

I believe they will fix it, eventually.
After all, a lot of servers use Broadcom LAN chips.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
Yet again an upgrade fails. Tried to upgrade two machines last night. Both doing 11.0.0.4.337? to 11.0.0.4.3460 Both upgraded but did not restore the config. I use 192.168.2.xxx for my home network. Perhaps its going to be easier to learn how to build NAS4free myself so that I can patch the default web address.
Otherwise how do I track down what is going wrong?

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
If a config restore fails in current series than its most likely another problem.
I would start by replace the current usb key where you installed embedded on for a new faster/better version.
You are able to see on console/monitor now where it goes wrong when you perform an firmware flash.
I have 2 types (are new) sandisk usb keys here, with one of the types I now and than can reproduce config restore fails.
The other one has never failed on me with sometimes 1 to 6 firmware upgrades a day!

Two different servers. One uses a Kingston datatraveller USB 3.0 drive, the other a CF card in a USB adaptor. I'll look at different USB drives. What model works upto times a day?

- Transcend CompactFlash 133x (CF), JetFlash (USB 2.0) and SanDisk Cruzer Fit (USB 2.0) are good.
- Kingston Data Traveler (USB 2.0) failed in virtual environment, but worked on real hardware.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
I have only 4GB Ram on my x64 quad-core N4F 11.0.0.4.3460, and memory usage is consistently at around 35% with an embedded install w/ no swap partition.
FYI - I don't like jails, either. But I have been running openvpn and other programs (Sickrage, Plex) for a number of years now via mount_unionfs, and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

losing internet connection with 3460
Has anyone else had problems with losing Internet connectivity with 3460? Several times over the last few days, in the midst of downloading torrents, the N4F loses connectivity (no ping), and I have to reboot. The logs show nothing, and all processes are still running.
I'm going to wait a few more days to see if and how often it recurs. If it does, I'll revert back to previous 11.0.0.4 version and see if things improve.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
I've recently upgraded from 10.3.0.3 to 11.0.0.4, almost everything works nicely, except VirtualBox and noVNC. No matter what I try I always get "Failed to connect to server", there is also "Failed when connecting: Failed to connect to server ( (code: 1006))" in the web browser console.
There are no problems when I try to connect to the same host via TightVNC from my desktop.
My NAS4Free server is running on HTTPS, secured by Let's Encrypt certificate. When I fall back to HTTP and uncheck "Encrypt" in noVNC web interface, connection also works.
The thing is, I don't want to use unsecured HTTP as I often access my server remotely via Internet. Also, on 10.3.0.3, noVNC worked nicely even with HTTPS.
Any suggestions?

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
Hello
Which navigators are you using ?
There is a note for last releases 11.x (after 3330):
IE11 and Edge browser does not operate correctly with novnc. Enter & Escape button problematic,
this will be fixed at a later release, use Chrome or other browser or connect with putty client.

Re: NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3460 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)
I've tried Edge, Firefox and Chrome. All of the report the same issue. I don't believe it's browser related, I don't have a problem with navigation/rendering or anything like that, the connection itself fails to complete - I don't even get the password prompt.
Here is a full console debug log from Chrome:
