USB install failing

Post by eiger3970 »

Hello, I downloaded the latest USB NAS4Free-x64-LiveCD-11.0.0.4.3460.iso, but it won't install from USB.
I've tried 2 USB sticks that work.
The motherboard works.
The motherboards sees the USB in BIOS, but after booting from USB it fails and only sees the IDE HDD.

Thank you, the liveUSB download worked. I am able to use a preferred image writer.

Well, somehow NAS4Free wasn't seeing my 2nd HDD 1 TB.

Downloaded and installed LiveUSB.
HDD 500GB working.
HDD 1TB not found. Unplugged power, rescanned via NAS4Free software and recognised.
Screwing HDD back into tower and accidentally unplugged 500GB disk.
Now computer shows nothing on monitor and no power to USB keyboard or USB with NAS4Free.
Turned computer off for 1 hour (unplugged power cable).

Still no power to the USBs or monitor?

To test PSU and M/B deinstall all cards from slots, detach all USB sticks and unplug all cables (SATA, IDE, USB and etc.).
Start PC and try to enter BIOS menu.

If failed (no response from keyboard, black screen and etc.) it's time to think about new PSU or M/B.
If you can walk through BIOS menu, plug USB stick with NAS4Free embedded, set boot sequence in BIOS and reboot.
If failed try another USB slot or choose in BIOS menu info about attached USB devices.

Not much of help, but simply general idea about fault tree.

Thanks. The monitor shows nothing, so maybe the MOBO is broken.
Strange as what happen was I removed the power from IDE HDD 1 and the monitor showed a strange coloured screen.
Now no power to USBs or monitor?
The MOBO does power up the PSU and CPU fans though.
