I'm not questioning, furthermore only inform for some settings for this scrappy, cheap cards with ASM1061.
I your system sucks on startup with TIMEOUTS on ahci, or something like that. I suggest to disable the MSI interrupt or only explain what i've done.
Disconnect all disks, disable all unused hardware by BIOS and install the greatfull Nas4Free. After this goto System->Advanced Setup, select loader.conf and add:
First:
Variable ahci_load
Value YES
Second:
Variable hint.ahci.0.msi
Value 0
Don't forget to apply the changes and set the jumpers on the card according your ports (intern/ extern).
