NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3882 released (FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-P7)

Post by zoon01 »

The NAS4Free Team is pleased to announce the release of version 11.0.0.4.3882 - Sayyadina

https://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4fr ... .0.4.3882/
Read the readme_11.0

Because of PHP upgrade and its related code changes: extensions like Extended GUI are not compatible!
Extensions should be disabled before and after upgrades until their creators have updated it's sources.
As we do not create/test those plugins against compatibility we do not know if more OBI installer plugins are broken!
We are sorry.

Major Change!
Note for 32-bits users:
===================
We believe that the use of 32-bits versions can not give the end users it's full potential of the OS, for this
further development on the (i386) 32-bits architecture has been stopped upon the 11.0.0.3.xxxx series.
Current 32-bits users are able to use 32-bits 10.3.0.3.xxxx series until their end of life or do reinstall
to use 64-bits NAS4Free and restore config.

Again TIP: Do not upgrade from 10 series directly!
reinstall and restore config is the way to go because of increased partition size!
You avoid lots of problems later on.

Upgrade note:
=============
RRDGraphs extension can no longer be used with 11.x series, disable and deinstall before upgrade!
RRDGraphs are now included in 11.x series, you can setup on webgui System > Advanced > Monitoring Setup.
Do not reinstall the extension!!!

BUILD 11.0.0.4.3882

Changes after release 11.0.0.4.3460 & beta 3800

========

Hello, thanks devs for the release. All works fine, except Extended GUI breaks.

I get this at the very top of my homepage when Extended GUI is active:

Code: Select all

Warning: Illegal string offset 'carp' in /usr/local/www/index.php on line 55
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /usr/local/www/index.php:55) in /usr/local/www/fbegin.inc on line 242

Thanks for the report,
Please disable those extensions until updates are made by their creators.
At start of the Beta releases and now the release of rev.3882, nas4free is upgraded with PHP v.7.1.1.
I believe the extension creators are aware of it now :)

I must be doing something wrong.
Using the USB live image and only one empty SSD in the system I run the root on zfs installer
It says the installation went ok.
But when I reboot the splash screen with the boot options is shown and after the timeout some video buffer information is printed and the system hangs.
When I reboot again from the live USB and enter the shell I see the boot disk contains the ZFS zroot pool but after trying to mount the zroot pool I get with any zfs comment "internal zfs error"
Is there some place where I can read more about the zfs on root installation process so I can find what I am doing wrong?

you can read more here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9959&p=74601 (is a bit outdated but video still works and you can compare steps)

Success!
Using only one disk as boot device (seems the SSD does not work well with freebsd)
The computer tries to boot from UEFI but it only works if I force it to use legacy boot.

So now set to legacy boot in the bios
Data disks can be connected and imported now! :D

Hello Lindsay,

I think it's best is for you todo an config restore after a new install or replace manual the firmware upgrade files on the box before flash to 3882 :(

This comes a bit unsuspected for me, i'm unsure why you get this error.
Did you disable all extensions or did you made any modifications to the system files or custom installations?
The problem is the fact that non of us can reproduce it, i did flash back from older releases and every version up to 3882 and i did not catch it so far to that point.

I had the same error when upgrade to revision 3877 (from trunk). After completing the upgrade everything worked normally. For me it was just as suddenly. I think nothing wrong with that. With subsequent updates of this error was gone.

Cron problems - NAS4Free 11.0.0.4.3882 released

Post by jamaroney »

In the forum for the previous release (3460), I noted that a cron job was no longer working that was fine with release 3330, so I reverted back to 3330. I just tried the new update (3882), and same problem occurs. Here is the script, which I use to convert x265 mkvs to x264 mp4s. The part that's not executing is shown in bold:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
#!/bin/bash

cd /mnt/NAS/PBO/Video/TV
/bin/mv /mnt/NAS/Sickrage/**/*.mkv /mnt/NAS/PBO/Video/TV

for i in *.mkv
do name=`echo "${i%.*}"`
echo $name
/usr/local/bin/ffmpeg -i "${i}" -acodec ac3 -x264-params crf=23 -preset ultrafast "${name}".mp4
done

/bin/rm *.mkv
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

As a result, the mkvs get deleted without being converted to mp4s.

Again, this script runs fine as a cron job in release 3330, but not in later releases. Any suggestions as to what I should modify in this script would be appreciated.

Hi

If the files are being deleted, the script is actually being executed, but will delete files regardless of the transcode/convert exit status, you could use basic operands to protect files from being delete on failed converts(exit 1) until you debug the ffmpeg/convert problem cause.

For example:

Code: Select all

if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
    command_on_success
else
    commands_on_failed
fi
P.S Check if the "ffmpeg" is present in the directory, if you upgraded Embedded while using UnionFS, this is a common strange behavior I've experienced many times from "above" mounts.

Thanks for the operands suggestion while I work this out. ffmpeg is in the correct directory, and the entire cron job works fine if I tell N4F to "Run Now." The transcoding doesn't work only when it's a regularly scheduled cron job.

Sounds like a sudo might need to be added to the script, but I'm no expert. To me, looks like cron doesn't have permissions to execute from a script.

This is a old limitation of cron webGUI.

so I ask to developers: It's posible add a checkbox o similar to cron WEBGUI to select the user to be used to execute cron or something simmilar to avoid use full path on commands and this type of fail ( works if launch by hand and fail by cron) ?.

Sorry if my question do not have sense.

It's done, sorry:

Yes, ffmpeg is present in the directory.

But what I can't figure out is why it worked in 3330 release but not in later releases.

Update 3882 removes tasks "rsync - local"
Now there are none in webgui
in backup has "rsync - local" tasks
this has been fixed with commit r3908 and will be included in the next release.
When can I expect that? I'm sure you know that aside from not seeing the previous ones, I can't make any new local rsync tasks either and I use this feature pretty regularly. I wouldn't want to roll back over it though...
