System wont install with IDE hard disks??

Trying to get my nas4free running with IDE hard disks but it keeps freezing during install.
The install will complete just fine with two SATA drives plugged in but will not install with IDE drives. I would like to use 2 SATA and two other IDE drives but even with just the IDE drives plugged in It freezes during install with:

Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/md0 []...
(ada0:ata0:0:0:0): READ_DMA48. ABC: 25 00 af 9e a1 40 12

screen just hangs with this message. Is this a Bios issue or something im missing?

Suggest following these steps:

1. install N4F with no data disks connected,
2. then shutdown machine and connect all data disks,
3. boot up and enter BIOS
   • verify HDD settings, pay attention to 32 bit data transfer mode (in most cases default is 16),
   • carefully set up IDE operate mode and Enhanced mode support, use motherboard user's manual,
   • check boot order, pay attention to this post,
4. after checking/setting BIOS reboot your machine and start N4F setup in WebGUI.

Snufkin Thanks for the advice. Im looking in the Bios and can not see anything obvious regards transfer modes. What would this be under.
I have lots of options for DMA and ultra DMA and 2p+2s or 2p2s 5513 but can not see anything regarding bit rates?
