Ok, I installed Linux Mint OS on the SSD okay.
Then installed NAS4Free on the SSD and it worked.

I am now getting exactly the same error message as above, on trying to do a new embedded install of v.11.0.0.4.4304 from LiveCD onto a new USB stick. The 8GB USB stick is (I believe) formatted as FAT on a Windows PC. Any suggestions what I should try?

(Using an HP N36L, working fine with V.10 NAS4Free previously. Trying to embed-install on a new USB stick mounted internally - like before. Will try a different USB stick and report back....)

(Tried a different USB stick - seemed to install v.11, but when that booted it failed with "can`t determine rootfs - The operating system was halted." message? Gone back to v.10 while I investigate.)

EDIT: Solved:
Booted into GParted and removed the partitions on the flash drive. Then ran the installer again and installed using all defaults.

This the same problem - and solution - others have had, and so asks the question:
Why can't the NAS4Free installer fix the USB stick partitions (or delete them) itself? rather than just failing with a message that DOESN'T really indicate the problem?
