Atheros 8161-BL3A on a Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI

Post by Roenbaeck »

I have the motherboard GA-Z97N-WIFI from Gigabyte with a Atheros 8161-BL3A wired LAN controller. According to https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?alc(4) this seems to be supported, but the integrated controller is not recognised by nas4free (out of the box). Do I need to do something in order to get the LAN working?

you may need to set if_alc_load="YES" in System > Advanced > loader.conf according to the link you posted.

Unfortunately that did not solve the problem.

Is it possible to load the module manually? Something like modprobe in linux? I'm not that familiar with freebsd...

Code: Select all

kldload alc
Wouldn't expect any useful result from that, if it's not loaded than the card is not supported. (Can be as simple as a missing device/vendor ID in the driver.)
