mixing ZFS n UFS

Post by mosaic2s »

I have installed nas4free recently and managed to mount 500gb HDD in UFS mode and share it in the network using SAMBA share.

Now I need to add 2 x 4TB and 1 x 2TB HDD to this NAS.

Can I keep the 500gb HDD in UFS mode?
while I format the total of 10TB as a mirrored raid of ZFS pool? So it will be 5TB and 5TB of mirror.

yes, as a separate HD , not part of any pool.

NOt possible, you can create a 4TB mirror ZPOOL and have a 2TB Disk for other pourpouses.

PD: you can create a mirror pool using 500GB + 2 TB and upgrade 500GB disk in the future to grow pool from 500GB to 2TB.

Please read this info: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?th ... oobs.7775/
12.1.0.4 - Ingva (revision 7743) on SUPERMICRO X8SIL-F 8GB of ECC RAM, 11x3TB disk in 1 vdev = Vpool = 32TB Raw size , so 29TB usable size (I Have other NAS as Backup)
