Installing a print server

Post by Wingman5 »

Hello,

I happily converted my Windows server to Nas4FREE 9.1 recently and find it fast stable and easy to configure. But there is 1 function I would like to add on my NAS that is not fully NAS like... a print server. On googling I found that it is capable of doing that, only you need to install and configure it.....
That it where I got stuck (a bit)

I found on some tutorials that the package CUPS is needed. and that I need to use pkg_add -r cups to add it somehow. But it can seems to find and of the dependencies.
Now I already downloaded the FreeBSD 9.1 RC1 CD matching the version of Nas4Free core files so on there the files needed must be there....

But I can't find how to proceed.

Is there someone who can help me on this one?

And second? The driver for my Canon Pixma MP550 printer... I downloaded the linux source package but is this the correct one? because FreeBSD in no Linux...?
The printer is detected on ulpt0 on the nas4free machine but can it natively work already...? I doubt it...

Thnx in advance for any help ;)

Wingman5,
I've uploaded the zip file with the Binary files included. That should get you going. 12-05-2012
