zfs cache

Post by tobiasgardner »

Hi,

I have a 16G USB3 mem stick... Is it any idea to add this as a cache device to my ZFS stripe? Or is it to big risk that the quality of a mem stick will degrade quickly and risk corrupting my data?

Can I pinpoint which directories / files that I would like the cache to focus on?

take your own conclusion and if test it, please share your result.

I use the USB key as ZFS cache but set it to be only a metadata cache. This already speeds up directory access when browsing or performing searches.
