ZFS and the available space...

Post by NasBar »

Heyho there,

i'm a new starter here with NAS4Free and i used some Options here and some there...just to get more closer to this solution.
So let me explain you my "doubts"...i created an RAID of ZFS and this wasn't really a Problem ..then i add a volume in, for an iSCSI Target, also this works fine for me. Then i add an dataset in order to use it as an SAMBA share...what works directly...so where is my issue?
I started with a 2GB set, just for test purpose...this i delete (after i also get ride of the SMB config)...and then i create an 1000GB dataset...and put this into the SMB config...nice...i could acces it like expeted..then i wanted to see the quota...so i put some files on it...i could see the reducing AVAIL space Information....and finally i got this box from the windwos 7 Client...not enough space to put more in...great.
I delete all of those files from the Windows Explorer via <shift> + <del>...the share seems to be empty...and i started to add again big files on it...but i still got this box of "full"...inside the WebGUI i also get this "full" Information...no AVAIL space in the Information of the ZFS Dataset.
Where is the trick to get it free again?
The same thing happen to me when i delete the iSCSI Target via the VMHost <delete from disk> the used memory wasn't shown as "free", still shown as "USED". What to configure where that the "used" space become free after deleting it?

I use the release 11.1.0.4.4619

In your CIFS/SMB share settings, do you have the Recycle Bin enabled?

If so, you either need to
(a) disable it, or
(b) make sure it's empty - you can use File Manager (when logged in as "root") for this.
