Hello!
I got the following message on my nas4free.
pool: pool2
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices could not be opened. Sufficient replicas
exist for
the pool to continue functioning in a degraded state.
And the disk that had problem was dis ada9.
I ordered a new disk, got it today and wanted to replace the destroyed one.. So far so good.
I dont know which of my 12 discs is ada9 so I shut down the nas4free, removed one and started up again. This time it was ada9 and ada10 who was missing. tried another one and inserted ada10 again - i didn't find pool2 at all. Inserted all disc again and now it says ada11 is missing and not ada09. When I try to remove any other disc it doesn't find pool2 at all... what to do? I dont know which disc to replace and not how to find the correct one.

Re: Error when replace a failed disk in a ZFS array
to know what disk to replace, you need to see Disk > Management > HDD Manegement and print a screen capture to see what disk is ada0 for example and what is his serial number ( at the end you need the serial number to identify your broken disk).
For your problem, please read FAQ 0149: https://nas4free.org/wiki/faq/0149
PD: if you have valuable data on your NAS , you need to save some usefull information when your NAS work good to the days that do not work good, eg: config.xml ( not encrypted to see on a normal notepad), and some screen capture of your HD config, etc...

first of all, you need to push the button import and mark the checkbox : Clear configuration information before importing disks. on Disks > Management > HDD ManagementSirant wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017 18:33

this show you the correct assignation between adax and your serial number, once done, do a screen capture and print it,
this time when you shutdown your NAS you can identify by SN your dead Disk.
